Home values in San Diego rose more than 1.5% from July to August. This was a drop compared to June to July, where the increase was 2.5%. The San Diego real estate market has been hit hard with declining home values, with values dropping over twenty percent in some cases. Compared to a year ago, San Diego home prices dropped nearly nine percent.
Highlighting an even more drastic change, home values are down almost forty percent when compared with numbers from 2005.
S&P economist David Blitzer stated that declining home values are not only improving on a national scale, but California is also seeing significant improvements. Some areas throughout the United States have already hit home values reminiscent of 2003 numbers, however, Blizter did say that it make take half a decade for Southern California home values to fully recover.
