Mike Portnoy on Dream Theater Reunion: "I Would Surely Welcome It"

In an interview with GigsandFestivals.com, prog-rock drumming legend Mike Portnoy indicated he would be open to rejoining Dream Theater, and he maintains contact with the remaining members.  When asked about a possible reunion with the band he helped form, Portnoy responded:  "if the opportunity arose, I would surely welcome it."  The drummer did note that a reunion is not in the works, but expressed a fondness for his 25-year run with the band and noted that he is not one to hold grudges.  The drummer even mentioned that he sent holiday greetings to the band's current members.  Aside from discussing Dream Theater, Portnoy also talked about his current band, the Winery Dogs, as well as the recent passing of music legends including David Bowie.  The Winery Dogs recently released a cover version of Bowie's "Moonage Daydream", and Portnoy wrote a lengthy Facebook post talking about how we're entering an era where rock music luminaries are "dropping like flies," and Eagles legend Glen Frey died later that day.  Click Here to read that very poignant piece.  Click Here to read Portnoy's chat with GigsandFestivals in its entirety.  The YouTube video below is a drumcam video of Portnoy performing the Bowie classic, posted by the drummer himself.
