Cocaine, MDA and Alcohol Blamed for Scott Weiland's Death

Officials revealed Friday that former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman's death was the result of a combination of drugs and alcohol. Toxicology results showed cocaine, ethanol and MDA in Scott Weiland's system, along with alcohol, which proved a deadly toxic cocktail for Weiland's body to handle. The report listed the troubled singer's "multi-substance abuse" as a factor in his death, and referred to asthma and heart disease as "significant" health issues.

Weiland's body was discovered in his tour bus on December 3 in Bloomington, Minnesota, along with a small amount of cocaine. Police later arrested Tommy Black for possession of cocaine, the bassist from Weiland's band, The Wildabouts. Weiland had a long history with drug-related arrests and rehab stints, going back to 1995 when he was arrested for buying crack from an undercover cop. Two years later, Stone Temple Pilots were forced to cancel an entire tour after Weiland was arrested for possession of heroin.
