Officials in Auckland, New Zealand decided this week that AC/DC fans will be barred from consuming alcohol at the band's concert on December 15th. Members of the Waitemata Local Board unanimously approved a temporary ban on liquor when they met on Tuesday. The move was suggested by a veteran member of the Auckland police, who claimed that similar liquor bans have "significantly assisted in curbing alcohol-related harm and offending in public areas." The ban goes into effect at 6 AM on the day of the show, and will be in effect for 24 hours. The restricted area includes Western Springs Stadium, where the concert will take place, plus the surrounding streets and the Auckland Zoo. Violators of the temporary measure will be fined $250.
