Taylor Swift's Transition to Pop Finding Huge Success

Country superstar Taylor Swift's transition to pop music is going just fine, thank you, at least according to the latest week's sales figures.  The singer's first pop album, 1989, has already fared better than two of her four multi-platinum country releases, and that's after being in stores for just 19 weeks.  According to Nielsen SoundScan, 1989 sold another 44,000 copies in the latest week, pushing the set's total to 4.505 million.  That figure surpasses sales for Swift's 2010 record, Speak Now, which has sold 4.48 million copies.  The country release has also passed Swift's last country release, 2012's Red, which has moved 4.16 million copies.  The crossover star's country debut still trails her 2 biggest-selling albums in sales, although those sets have been available for seven and nine years, respectively.  Swift's biggest success came with the 2008 effort Fearless, with 6.909 million in sales, followed by her 2006 self-titled debut, with 5.429 million in sales to date.   In total, Swift has generated a staggering 27.67 million album sales, making her the seventh biggest-selling female artist in the Nielsen SoundScan era.
