Former Dio Guitarist Vivian Campbell Reuniting w/ Ex-Bandmates

Former Dio guitarist, Vivian Campbell, who, for the last twenty years, has been rotting away as a member of Def Leppard announced his plans to regroup with his old Dio bandmates.  Campbell will reunite with Vinny Appice, Jimmy Bain and Claude Schnell, all of whom he played alongside throughout his Dio years.  The group are calling themselves The Last in Line and plan to tour with Andy Freeman handling the vocal duties.  I, for one, couldn't be happier, mostly because I always hated the fact that Campbell was just wasting away in a band as lame as Def Leppard.  Not only that, he is the better guitarist in the band and he has been relegated to being a ghastly rhythm player.  For all you around the web who think that Ronnie James Dio would be turning over in his grave, I come from a different belief system.

I'll Explain:

Those of you not in the loop, Ronnie James Dio and Vivian Campbell did not like each other after Campbell departed the band in the 80s.  For years no one really knew what caused the rift between the two, but Ronnie's wife and manager recently came out and said it was over money, because Campbell wanted an equal share and to not be paid as a hired gun.  How can you blame him?  He wrote most of the music to all those great songs.  After he left the band, Dio was never that good again.  And for someone who was too young at the time to know just how great Ronnie James really was (I learned quickly though), of course I loved his voice, but, to me, Vivian was a real factor in why I loved jamming Dio.

I think Ronnie would be thrilled that Vivian is doing what he is doing.  If you are still holding on to a grudge after death, after you will never be that person again, after you get to see just how stupid all your grudges were - then you got serious issues.  I'm betting Ronnie couldn't be more pleased, and same goes for me!  It's just a shame they couldn't have worked things out before he passed, reunion tour and all.
