As expected, country superstar Taylor Swift made digital music history this week as her latest single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," moved 623,000 digital downloads in its first week of release, the bbiggest one-week tally for a song by a female artist ever. The track also jumped to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, giving Swift her first No. 1 and relieving her of the distinction of the having logged the most Billboard Hot 100 entries without reaching the pinnacle. Prior to "Never," Swift had reached the Hot 100 with 45 singles, but never reached the summit. With the single's ascension to the top, Nicki Minaj takes over the dubious distinction, having logged 41 entries in the Hot 100 without a No. 1. "Never" is the lead single from Swift's upcoming fourth studio album "Red," which is slated to arrive in stores October 22nd.
