Indie rock veteran Beck revealed on Wednesday that he will release a new album in December. But fans won't be able to buy the CD in stores or even download it in digital format5 because Beck is releasing the effort in a nearly forgotten form: sheet music. Titled "Beck Hansen's Song Reader," the 20-song album will be sold as sheet music on the website for publisher McSweeny's, who will also offer sample performances of some of the songs by select artists. In addition to the sheet music, the 108-page book will also contain artwork for each of the 20 tracks, an introduction by Slate editor Jody Rosen and a foreward from Beck himself. In the meantime, Beck will perform a special "secret" show Thuirsday night at Bimbo's in San Francisco. Tickets for the show are still available.
