The Beach Boys are on pace for their highest chart position in nearly four decades next week with their 29th studio album, Why God Made Radio, which industry prognosticators estimate has sold between 60,000 and 65,000 copies in the tracking week ended Sunday. The next version of the Billboard 200 comes out Wednesday morning, and the Beach Boys are expected to come in the Top 5. About 20,000 of those albums sold came from a special pre-ordering session during the band's May 16th performance on the QVC shopping network. The last time a Beach Boys release landed in the top 5 on the Billboard albums chart was in 1974, when the greatest hits collection Endless Summer debuted at No. 1.
