A new musical chronicling the rise to stardom of the Beatles, will make a final stop in Los Angeles early next year before beginning its run on Broadway. Titled "Backbeat," the musical is based on the 1994 Universal Pictures film of the same name and had its initial run in London's West End between September and February before starting a run at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, Scotland. Before hitting Los Angeles, the show will go through a run in Toronto.
"Backbeat" looks at the very earliest days of the Beatles, with a focus on the band's original bassist Stu Sutcliffe. The musical, like the film, will include many of the popular songs the band covered in the early days including "Long Tall Sally," "Good Golly Miss Molly" and "Twist and Shout."
