Beastie Boys rapper Adam MCA Yauch was mourned by members of the rock, hip-hop, and other forms of music when he passed away tragically earlier this month, but the rapper's influence went even further than music as he was honored by the New York state senate in a resolutions passed this week. The resolution described the Beastie Boys' music as exemplifying New York, adding that the group helped rejuvenate the city at a time when it needed it. The senate also praised Yauch's charity efforts, including his pro-Tibetan Milarepa fund. Yauch succumbed to throat cancer earlier this month at the age of 47.
