Adele's "21" Surpasses Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in UK Sales

R&B superstar Adele, with her hugely successful album "21," has surpassed deceased pop icon Michael Jackson's classic "Thriller" album for the No. 5 spot on the all-time sales list in the United Kingdom.  Check out a list of the top ten albums in UK sales below.  In the latest tally, "21"'s sales moved to 4,274,300, exactly 500 copies more than "Thriller" has moved since its 1982 release.  In the US, "21" has a long way to go to crack the top 5 in sales, currently ranked 30th with 8.9 million sales.  The top-selling album in the US since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991 is Metallica's self-titled release from that year, which has sold 15.8 million copies.  According to the Recording Industry of America, however, there is a tie at the top in terms of all-time album sales with "Thriller" and the Eagles' "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" each with 29 million.
