Rock / blues legend Bob Dylan was among 13 American civilians that will be honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor given to civilians. The recipients were named by President Obama over the weekend, and also include famous astronaut John Glenn and Madeline Albright, who was the first woman to serve as the US Secretary of State. The Presidential Medal of Freedom was established to recognize "individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors," according to a press release from officials at the White House, where the medals will be presented at a ceremony later this Spring.
