Rapper Snoop Dogg, whose affinity for marijuana is pretty much public knowledge, was arrested last weekend for possession of several joints containing less than a half ounce of weed. Snoop was nabbed during a border patrol inspection at the same Sierra Blanca, Texas checkpoint where Willie Nelson was arrested for marijuana in 2010. According to officials, the joints were found aboard Snoop Dogg's tour bus when a drug dog alerted the officers, and Snoop freely admitted that the drugs were his.
Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was cited for misdemeanor possession of drug marijuana and released. He faces 180 days in jail if convicted. The rapper has been arrested numerous times over the last decade on charges ranging from marijuana and cocaine possession to weapons charges. Snoop resides in California, and does have a prescription for medicinal marijuana there.
Snoop and Nelson collaborated on a song in 2008 titled "My Medicine," a thinly veiled tribute to weed. Watch the video below. Both artists have made their appreciation of, as Snoop would say: "the stickiest of the icky", a major part of their public personas.
