Longtime Willie Nelson bassist Dan "Bee" Spears passed away last Thursday after taking a fall outside his Nashville, home. He was 62 years-old. According to Nelson, the musician dies as a result of exposure to the elements. Spears spent over 40 years as the backbone to Nelson's rhythm section, joining up in 1968 and performing on such classic Nelson records as "Shotgun Willie," Red Headed Stranger," and "Stardust." He also appeared in the 1980 film starring Nelson,"Honeysuckle Rose."
