Country duo Sugarland has been named in a lawsuit filed earlier this week by 44 survivors of the tragic stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair in Indiana last December. Family members of four people who died in the accident are also listed as plaintiffs. In addition to Sugarland, the suit also seeks damages from producers, stage riggers and others involved with the show, during which stage rigging collapsed into spectators following a gust of wind of at least 60 mph. Seven people died in the accident and more than 40 others were injured.
Essentially, the lawsuit claims that Sugarland and the other defendants should not have gone on with the concert in light of the weather, and their decision not to cancel the show constitutes breach of reasonable care. Sugarland and its representatives have not responded to requests for comment.
