Pointer Sister Charged with Cocaine Possession in LA

Patricia "Bonnie" Pointer of the iconic R&B group the Pointer Sisters was arrested and charged with cocaine possession over the weekend in Los Angeles.  According to police, the 61 year-old singer was pulled over Friday night when she was discovered to be carrying rock cocaine.  Pointer was taken into custody and later released on $10,000 bail.  She is scheduled to appear in court on the charge on January 17th.

The Pointer Sisters began their career singing in a church choir when they were just children.  Patricia and June went on to form a duo, performing in clubs until Ruth and Anita got old enough to join them.  The sisters' first album came out in 1973, and the group was recognized with their first Grammy in 1974.  Bonnie left the band in 1977, and went on to have a moderately successful solo career.
