Rumors surfaced on Monday that the NFL has signed iconic pop superstar Madonna to perform at the halftime show of Super Bowl XLVI in February. Neither the NFL or Madonna's camp have confirmed or denied the report at this point, but sources close to the event, slated for February 5th at Lucas Oil Satdium in Indianapolis, say it's a done deal. Madonna almost performed at the Super Bowl back in 2000, but a scheduling conflict forced her to pull out.
Last year's Super Bowl, between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, was the most-watched program in American TV history with an estimated 111 million viewers, according to Nielsen. There's a possibility that the Material Girl could release her album right around the same time, as she has said the set will be in stores in 2012.
