Bob Dylan Accused of Plagiarism

Legendary folk singer and songwriter Bob Dylan's foray into painting is drawing criticism from the art world. Dylan's "The Asia Series" exhibit opened at the Gasogian Gallery in Manhattan. The paintings are described by Dylan as a "visual journal" of Dylan's journeys through the Far East, containing supposedly "firsthand depictions of people, street scenes, architecture and landscape." A number of observers, however, have insinuated that Dylan took the images depicted in the paintings from photographs by renowned photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Leon Busy, among others. Below are a few examples of Dylan's work that resembles well-known photographs.

Well-known singer/songwriter Bob Dylan has an exhibition of paintings currently being displayed in New York. The exhibition, called a firsthand depictions of people, street scenes, structure and scenery," was supposedly an expression of Dylan's travels in Asia. However, some are blaming the artist for robbing his impression from previously published photographs. This is not the first time Dylan has been accused of plagiarism. Bob Dylan paintings may be copied from photographs but I think he just drew on his inspiration to paint the paintings. Any article about Bob Dylan will always drag in those who say that Dylan just copied other peoples' blues riffs. I
