Alternative rockers Breaking Benjamin are reportedly breaking up over differences stemming from an unauthorized remix of one of their songs. Frontman Benjamin Burnley reportedly fired bassist Mark Klepaski and guitarist Aaron Fincke after the pair allegedly approved a remix of "Blow Me Away" for the band's not-yet-released greatest hits collection, "Shallow Bay: The Best of Breaking Benjamin." Burnley claims that Fincke and Klepaski were offered $100,000 by the band's label to approve the remixed version, and they did not inform either Burnley of the band's management of the remix.
Attorneys representing the two fired band members have deined Burnley's claims in a response to a lawsuit filed by Burnley. The singer is reportedly seeking $250,000 from the other two men and exclusive rights to the Breaking Benjamin name.
"The relationship between Mr. Burnley and the two other members of the band has ended," Burnley's attorney, Brian Caplan says. "Mr. Burnley intends on moving forward using the name Breaking Benjamin and the band will continue. It just won't continue in its prior configuration. He's not retiring."
