Legendary songwriter Jerry Ragovoy, who made a name for himself on classic hit songs performed by the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, and B.B. King, died last week at the age of 80 at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York City. The cause of death was complications arising from a recent stoke. Among Ragovoy's most memorable compositions were the Stones' "Time Is On My Side" and Joplin's "Piece of My Heart." Some of Ragovoy's songs were credited to a pseudonym he went by, Norman Meade. Ragovoy was also a successful producer, working with Diana Ross, Dione Warwck and others.
