During Sunday's performances at the UK Sonisphere festival, where Slipknot closed out the show with a headlining performance, organizers held a two-minute moment of silence at 2:00 PM in remembrance of late Slpknot bassist Paul Gray. Gray was known as "Number 2" among the band, hence the time for the tribute. As the band's song "Vermillion Part 2" played over the PA, Gray's bass, red jump suit and mask were placed center stage as SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor, percussionist Shawn Crahan, guitarist Jim Root and other members of SLIPKNOT and their crew took the stage to take part in the moment.
Fans attending Sonisphere are encouraged to stop by a special tent that's been set up to leave tributes in a book of remembrance, which will be given to the band at the end of the festival. Sonisphere brings the band's current tour to an end, their first without Gray on bass. Slipknot's future beyond the tour is uncertain.
