British pop star Cheryl Cole is reportedly causing quite a headache for the producers of "The X Factor." Cole was dropped from the American version of the singing contest show after four days without an explanation, but was reportedly willing to return to the UK version as the producers wanted. But TMZ is reporting that Cole was owed $1.5 million from the contract she signed for the American show, whether she participated or not, and Cole is asking for an additional fee to appear on the UK version.
Now, the two sides are apparently in a standoff, and Cole will have to acquire a visa to return to the U.S. in time for the next round of tapings for the USA version if she wants to be paid. It is unclear whether Cole would even be on the show if she makes it to the filming sessions, though it's possible the producers would want to reach an agreement to end the embarrassing public dispute.
According to a representative for Cole, the singer has not yet applied for a visa because of constant attention from UK paparazzi, but does intend to do so. The next round of tapings for "The X Factor" are scheduled to begin June 9th in Newark, New Jersey. Requests for comment on this story have gone unanswered by Fox, Simon Cowell, and Cheryl Cole.
