Billboard announced Monday that R&B superstar Beyonce will be honored with its Millenium Award at the upcoming 2011 Billboard Music Awards, scheduled to take place May 22nd at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

The Millenium Award will honor the singer's career achievemnt and their influence on the music industry, from her role as the frontwoman of Destiny's Child to her three iconic solo albums, which have collectively earner Beyonce 16 Grammys and an ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award.  The singer has previously been recognized by Billboard as its Woman of the Year in October, 2009 and the Top Female Artist of the Decade later that year.

The Billboard Music Awards will be televides on ABC at 8PM ET.
