Legendary 71 year-old producer Phil Spector, who was convicted of the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson and sentenced to life in prison, had his appeal of the verdict denied Monday in a California appellate court. The ruling virtually ensures that Spector will spend his remaining days behind bars. Spector met Clarkson at a West Hollywood nightclub where she was working as a host, and Clarkson agreed to accompany Spector to his home. The two were driven in a limousine to Spector's Hollywood mansion and went inside. The driver, who had been waiting outside the home with the limo, testified that he heard a gunshot an hour later, before Spector exiting the house uttering the phrase "I think I just shot her," according to the driver's testimony. Spector was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced 19 years to life on May 29, 2009. He will be 88 years old before he is even eligible to request parole.
