Dr. Dre has reportedly won his lawsuit against WIDEawake Death Row Records over whether the label had the authority to re-issue Dre's classic "The Chronic" album, as well as a greatest hits set, without the rapper's permission. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, claimed that his fifteen year-old contract with the label clearly prohibited Death Row from releasing any of his recordings except "in the manners heretofore distributed."

In a decision issued Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Christina Snyder agreed with Dre's claim, and now the courts will look into how much Dre is entitled to in damages. The judge did say that damges awarded would be limited to "actual damages," but just how much money Dre recieves will be decided by a jury trial, in all likelihood.
