FBI Releases Files on Notorious B.I.G.'s Murder

Fourteen years after iconic rapper Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G., was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, the FBI has released some documents from the murder investigation, revealing several previously unreported facts about the case.

One of these new facts is that Biggie was killed by rare Gecko 9mm bullets, which are made only in Germany and only sold in the US in California and New Jersey.  Authorities had hoped to link the rare ammunition to other crimes to find the murderer, but that goal has so far gone unrealized.

Officials have also sought to find a link between Biggie's murder and that of Tupac Shakur six months earlier, and did, in fact, find that several individuals were present at both homicides.  Documents show that a number of the LA police officers who provided security at the party Biggie was leaving when he was shot were also employed by Suge Knight's Death Row Records as security guards, which violates LAPD policy.

The FBI files also offer evidence of a link between Biggie and the New York-based Genovese crime family, and speculate that the family may be in possession of photo or video evidence of those involved in the shooting.
