Singer Ashlee Simpson has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband of just two-and-a-half years, bassist Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy. The news was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by a spokesperson for the couple in a statement released on the couple's behalf.
"After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," reads the statement. " We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."
Simpson filed the divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of the couple's two year-old son, Bronx.
