Home prices experienced a year over year increase for the first time since November 2007 in October. According to San Diego based MDA DataQuick, the median price of Bay Area homes sold during the month was $390k, an increase of 4% over October 2008. The number of foreclosed homes is in decline, representing just 31% of the total number of homes sold. That is the smallest ratio of distressed properties sold since last June. The number of homes sold in the Bay Area in October also rose, by more than 4%.
