Former Grim Reaper Vocalist Says He Was Asked to Join Black Sabbath

Steve Grimmett (Grim Reaper, Lionsheart) was recently interviewed by Classic Rock magazine and says that drummer Bobby Rondinelli, who was playing in Sabbath at the time, called and asked the vocalist if he would be interested in joining the band.  Grimmett said he was, but was in the middle of recording the new Lionsheart album and asked if they would be willing to wait.  "But by the time I was ready, the original lineup was back together, so that was out of the window."

He also says Maiden manager Rod Smallwood told him, when Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden, that Grimmett was one of the top five choices.  The band eventually settled on Blaze Bailey to lead the band.
