There is no small amount of controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus' performance at the Teen Choice Awards Sunday night. The 16 year old "Hannah Montana" star appeared in a tank top and tight shorts and straddled a stripper pole while singing "Party in the USA", the new single from "The Time of Our Lives", her upcoming album set to be released Aug 31 for sale in Wal-Mart stores only.
The Disney Channel has released a statement in an attempt to distance the kids' brand from the performance. "Disney Channel won't be commenting on that performance," said a spokesman, "although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience - kids 6-14 - and consistent with what our brand values are."
The performance has created some buzz about "Party in the USA," as the song will debut at the Number 40 spot on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 spot this week, and is currently the number one song on iTunes.
