Radiohead made the song, "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)", from their new album available via download yesterday from their online store, Waste Merchandising. The cost is $1.70. Click Here to download the song. The track was written in tribute to Harry Patch, the last known British Veteran from WWI, who passed on July 25th. The band's frontman Thom Yorke was reportedly moved by an interview the BBC Radio 4 did with the man in 2005.
"The way he talked about war had a profound effect on me," Yorke explained on the band's website. "It became the inspiration for a song that we happened to record a few weeks before his death. It was done live in an abbey. The strings were arranged by Jonny [Greenwood]."
The band is currently in the studio recording their eigthh album and is scheduled to perform at four shows in the U.K. later this month.
