Thursday's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" featured a performance by Depeche Mode. The performance drew a crowd of over 12,000 fans to the corner of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles. The band played seven songs and the set lasted about 44 minutes. Though the performance didn't start until 7:30, fans were lining up starting at about 2:00 to claim their spots. A four block section was closed off for the show and everybody inside had a good high-def view of the band on a 20 foot wall screen plus five more giant LCD screens.
It was the biggest outdoor concert weve ever done, said Jimmy Kimmel Live music booker Scott Igoe. Theres no doubt Depeche Mode has a strong and loyal following in Los Angeles. We gave away 10,000 wristbands in one day and estimate a good 2,000 more people just showed up. You could see and hear Dave Gahan from five blocks away!
