Adam Schefter is saying that Favre is expected to make a decision in the next few days, possibly as soon as today, on whether he wants to play or not. Rumor has it that Minnesota is out of the running (for now). Looks like Tampa Bay have privately explored the idea of Favre playing for them. Schefter also states that if Favre does not go to Tampa, then the only other team that makes sense would be the New York Jets. In the end, it is still Favre's decision.
Apparently neither Favre or the Packer organization have been able to reach the other. Even more ridiculous, the media was obsessed with the news that Favre had contacted the Vikings several times, on a Packer issued cell phone. Now it has come out that he never had a cell phone. However, the Packers are still moving on their tampering case against Minnesota.
Team Watch Once again, they talked about the Jets being a possibility. Jets coach says he is happy with their quarterback situation.
Favre is a no-show at Packers training camp. Apparently, Packers general manager Ted Thompson asked Favre to not show up to camp, saying they need a "couple of days" to try and resolve the situation.
Favre commented, "I agreed to do that, I dont want to be a distraction to the Packers, and I hope in the next few days we can come to an agreement that would allow me to continue playing football."
A trade seems to be in the works and the two teams that just won't go away, as possible choices, are the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Personally, I think it's a shame that he is not going to be able to go to Chicago.
Through all of this, there has been a lot of talk that the Packers have screwed Favre, but in reality, Favre was offered the quarterback spot in March, after he led some to believe that he was interested in coming back. However, Favre decided to stay retired and it was at this point the Packers made a commitment to quaterback Aaron Rodgers.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy commented: "Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, that's been stated over and over again. I hope we can finally understand that. That's where we are as an organization and as a head coach of the Green Bay Packers. I dont know how else to answer that question.
The latest update suggests that, getting there won't be easy, but Favre is going to be a Viking. I would like to see that happen more than the Jets or the Bucs. Both of those teams just don't seem to be contenders. I think Tampa Bay can get to the playoffs, but they won't get much further. I don't think the Jets will even get to the playoffs. Favre could definitely help both teams, but the Vikings or the Bears make it exciting. We'll keep you posted. If you find out something first, let us know.
After all this, it looks like there may be a chance that Favre will go to the Vikings or the Bears. Also, a tv station in Milwaukee is saying that in yesterdays meeting with Favre, the Packers offered him 20 million dollars to stay retired.
Just to show you that the NFL can be as bad as People magazine, or some other crappy tabloid magazine. After all the rumors, Favre will more than likely stay with the Packers. The commissioner has reinstated Favre and he will be reporting to Packers camp today (monday, August 5th). All the talk now is that it will be highly unlikely that Favre will play for another team and he will probably be competing with Aaron Rodgers for the starting job. What a terrible route they took to get to this point.
Favre is no longer interested in playing with the Packers. The Packers also stated that Favre is not in the mindset to play with the team. Favre is now apparently looking at Tampa Bay.
Favre is currently talking with Tampa Bay and the goons are saying he could be close to an agreement and possibly as close as a couple of days. He is also talking to the Jets, but it looks like the chances of Favre playing in Minnesota, or Chicago are slim to none. Minnesota claims they haven't even spoken to Favre, despite being accused of talking to Favre without the Packers' blessing. Most of the talk is that Favre will be in Tampa. Regardless, the future Hall of Famer does not want to be a Packer any longer and a trade is inevitable.
