Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun is in a deep coma and on a life support machine after taking a fall at a Rolling Stones concert at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Doctors say that the 83-year-old, who contributed to the rises of Led Zeppelin, Yes, AC/DC, Foreigner and many of the label’s biggest bands, has minimal chance of recovery. Turkish-born Ertegun founded Atlantic Records with Herb Abramson in 1947.
