Dr. Dre To Produce and Star in Apple's First Original Show

Iconic rap mogul Dr. Dre will not only star in the first-ever television series from Apple, but he has also been tapped to executive produce the six-part mini-series.  Titled "Vital Signs", the series will reportedly be directed by Paul Hunter, renowned for his work over the years in music videos, and Sam Rockwell and Mo McRae will also star in the dramatic film.  The series has been described as a semi-autobiographical foray into Dre's emotions, with each 30-minute episode focusing on a different emotions.  As has been the case with original shows from Netflix, Apple will drop "Vital Signs" in its entirety, though a release date hasn't yet been announced.  The show will be available on the Apple Music service, but it is unclear if it will also be there for iTunes, or Apple TV users as well.

Whenever it drops, "Vital Signs" will be Apple's first attempt at original video content, though the company did premiere the 1989 live film from Taylor Swift.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film was Dre's brainchild, which he pitched to his co-Beats Electronics billionaire, Jimmy Iovine.  The pair sold Beats to Apple in May 2014 for the hefty sum of $3 billion.  Despite the riches gained in the sale, Dre and Iovine have continued to work for Apple and were integral in the development of Apple Music.
