Nikki Sixx Reveals Scott Weiland Died on Bus He Used

Legendary Motley Crue bassist and songwriter Nikki Sixx revealed Friday that the bus Scott Weiland died in was the same bus he used on a previous tour.   During the December 4th edition of his "Sixx Sense" syndicated radio program, Nikki offered: "So I remember the driver telling me he was gonna drive Scott [Weiland].  And I was thinking, 'Ah, that's cool, man.'  I think I said 'Say hi.'"  The metal legend also mentioned that Joe Walsh had used the bus before him, and the driver relayed greetings from him to Nikki.  He went on to discuss his thoughts when hearing that Weiland had died in the bus:  "So this thing just kind of rolled around in my brain, and this is a little bit dark, but Scott took my bus and was sleeping in the same bed that I was sleeping in. And, you know, he was found dead on the bus. And I was just, like, 'God...' It's like so crazy to think how close we all are."

Sixx also discussed how difficult it must have been for the rest of Weiland's band, The Wildabouts, to ride home after their frontman's death on the same bus he was found in.  The songwriter also compared the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman to Guns n Roses vocalist Axl Rose.  Sixx was apologetically critical of Weiland, specifically his drug use.  A recovering drug addict himself, he noted:  "When rock stars think they're more important than their fans, that's when they get in trouble. That's called ego. You get ego and drugs and... If he's bipolar, we've heard he was bipolar and unmedicated and all this stuff...  He had to be so tortured; he had to be in so much pain."  Sixx did offer condolences to Weiland's surviving family, offering:  "Scott Weiland dies in his sleep in a tour bus outside of a club. And it's really sad. And I think we should say a prayer for [his] kids, to be honest with you."

Scott Weiland was found dead on his tour bus last Friday at the age of 48, while on tour with his band, The Wildabouts. Authorities said it would take weeks to determine the official cause of death, but a small amount of cocaine was discovered on the bus and The Wildabouts' bassist, Tommy Black was arrested for possession after Weiland's body was found.
