Since guitar legend Slash revealed earlier this year that he had made amends with his Guns n' Roses frontman Axl Rose, rumors have been circulating about a possible reunion of the band's classic lineup. While bassist Duff McKagan has commented about the possibility, claiming that he would be the last to know if a reunion did develop, the rest of the band has been relatively tight-lipped about the prospect. Others in the hard rock community, however, have speculated and openly rooted for a reunion, including Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx. The Crue's principal songwriter responded on Thursday to a fan asking if GnR should reunite. "THEY ARE. EVERYBODY KNOWS," Sixx offered. Some may wonder why Sixx would be a reliable source on a possible Guns n' Roses tour, given the late-1980s feud between the bands (Crue singer Vince Neil reportedly punched GnR's Izzy Stradlin at the 1989 MTV Music Awards), but Nikki may have insider information. The songwriter's second band, Sixx: A.M., includes guitarist DJ Ashba on guitar, who recently quit Guns n' Roses after six years with the band.
While Nikki Sixx appears certain that a GnR reunion is imminent, others with knowledge of the situation have disputed the claim. Early GnR manager Vicky Hamilton claimed on Facebook recently that she had spoken with Slash about the possibility and the guitar legend shot it down. For his part, Slash has never spoken with the media about rejoining Guns but has talked about squashing the beef with his former bandmate. Slash revealed to a Swedish rock magazine in August that he and Rose were on speaking terms again, noting that the makeup was "probably way overdue".
