The Offspring Shopping Back Catalog for $35 Million

According to reports, The Offspring are shopping the masters and publishing to their impressive back catalog, including their albums released on the Sony Music imprint. The band is reportedly seeking a deal that would give them between $30 - $35 million for the rights to their nine previously released records, plus a new album to be released in the coming months. One of the most revered punk music bands of all time, The Offspring are also considered a giant among indie artists, despite releasing six albums for Sony. The band's third album Smash, released in 1994, has sold 11 million albums worldwide and is the highest-selling album ever to be released on an indie label. The album led to a unique deal with Columbia Records, a Sony subsidiary, in which the masters and rights to all their albums would be returned to the band in 18 years. That exchange took place last year, and the band is apparently ready to cash in.
