Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell said Monday that he doesn't want his name associated with current Republican Presidential front-runner Donald Trump.  The comments were made in connection with a CNN story, published Friday, that Trump will be introducing Def Leppard at an upcoming show in Des Moines, Iowa.  "I really, really, really hope that there's no truth to this rumour," Campbell exclaimed in a Facebook post.  "Def Leppard have never been a political band, and if we were, I for one wouldn't be associating my name with this clown."  

Donald Trump has been swimming in controversy this summer, ever since announcing his candidacy on June 16th.  During his announcement, Trump made disparaging comments about Mexican immigrants as he claimed:  "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."  Despite the controversy over those comments, Trump has risen steadily in the polls, and has built a double-digit lead over his next closest competitor, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.  Trump drew fresh ire since the latest polls, however, when he claimed that Senator John McCain is not a hero because he was captured during the Vietnam conflict.
