Infamous rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of murder following an incident at a Compton, California fast food restaurant. The 49 year-old Knight, known for co-founding Death Row Records, was booked into the Los Angeles County jail at about 3 AM PT and his bail was set at $2 million. According to witnesses, a man matching Knight's description pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant and began arguing with two people. The driver then backed his red Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck into one of the men and then pulled forward, running over both men before fleeing the scene. One of the victims, who has been identified as 55 year-old Terry Carter, died in a nearby hospital a few hours after the incident. The second victim, not identified by police, was also taken to the hospital, though his condition has not been made public.
Mr. Knight's attorney, James Blatt, told reporters that his client did nothing wrong. Knight was actually being attacked, the attorney said, and inadvertently ran over the two men while fleeing from different men who were attacking him. The incident is just the latest in a long line of criminal incidents involving Knight, who was already facing theft charges from an incident last fall.
