Pop superstar Katy Perry's fourth album will be titled Prism and will arrive in stores on October 22nd, according to a clever guerrilla marketing campaign unleashed by the singer in Los Angeles on Monday. A golden truck was seen driving around the city with the phrase "Katy Perry - Prism - 10-22-13" emblazoned across both sides and along the top. Perry later took to her Twitter account to confirm that Prism is an album title after some followers weren't sure whether it was the album or it's first single.
The timing for Perry's fourth album is no mistake, as it will appear in record stores just as the annual holiday shopping period, and also undercuts fellow pop queen Lady gaga, who announced a November 11th release date for her upcoming ARTPOP album last week. The singer has her work cut out for her if Prism is to live up to the success she enjoyed with Teenage Dream, an album that set the record for No. 1 singles on a female artist's album with five. Perry was also named 2012's Artist of the Year by Billboard and took home numerous awards for her work last year.
