51 concert goers were injured over the weekend when a single bolt of lightning struck the crowd at the With Full Force music festival in Liepzig, Germany. Fans that were not struck reported seeing people flying into the air when the bolt struck, causing three people to be admitted to local hospitals with serious injuries. Among the acts performing at the event were Trivium, Soulfly, Machine Head and Lamb of God, which had to pull out when frontman Randy Blythe was arrested in Czechoslovakia on Friday.
People across northwest Germany reported brilliant flashes of lightning Saturday night as a system unleashed a barrage of current. The same storm killed three women and injured another when it destroyed a hut they were using for shelter, while another woman lost her life when a tree crushed her car.
