Carly Rae Jepsen Arrives as "Call Me Maybe" Tops Hot 100

Teen pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen officially arrived Wednesday as her "Call Me Maybe" single rose from No. 2 to No. 1 on the latest edition of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, unseating Goyte's "Somebody that I Used to Know," which had spent eight weeks atop the chart, fueled by strong gains on the digital songs and radio airplay lists.  In terms of digital sales, the song moved 296,000 downloads last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan data, going over 3 million downloads in the process.  With the feat, Jepsen becomes the first female artist with a debut single atop the chart since Ke$ha hit the scene in the final week of 2009.

Carly Rae Jepsen placed third on "Canadian Idol" in 2007, and released a debut album, "Tug of War," in 2008.  "Call Me Maybe" has also reached the apex on singles charts in Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and her native Canada.
