Rapper G. Dep was sentenced Tuesday for a 1993 murder which he confessed to in late 2010. The rapper, born Trevell Coleman, walked into a police station about 18 months ago and told police a story about an incident in which he had shot a man who was trying to rob him to, as he put it, "clear his conscience." On Tuesday, the rapper was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the murder, bringing to a close an odd case of redemption and an unsympathetic court system.
G. Dep achieved moderate success as part of Sean "Diddy" Combs' stable at Bad Boy Records in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His biggest hit was the track "Special Delivery," and the video for his "Let's Get It" helped to popularize the urban dance move called the Harlem shake.
