Next Friday we begin the first of five dates over the next month throughout Southern Ontario. The first is at The Rockpile in Toronto on the 27th followed two days later (Sunday, April 29th) at The Eastside in London, Ontario. Then the next weekend (Saturday, May 5th) we return to The Stubborn Mule in Sarnia (our last show there was a sell-out) with Whiskey Rain. At The Eastside we will finally pick the winner of the B.C.Rich Warlock Avenger guitar. This will be done at the end of the show. Once again, everyone who buys the new EP "Skin in the Game" is automatically entered.
Sarnia will be a special gig because for the first time we'll be trying some new multimedia effects in the show, courtesy of Gavin Brix. By "multimedia" I mean two screens positioned at either side of the stage with various visual images projected on them throughout the show. For the most part it will be of us playing live (there will be strategically placed cameras onstage) but during other parts of the show it will be pre-filmed material. This will be a work in progress.
The multimedia will also be used in Woodstock at the Moose Hall on May 11th. The Moose Hall is also one of the halls we'll be taking the Christmas show into this up coming December. Once again we'll be using Gavin Brix, only this time around we'll be using Gavin's whole lighting and sound system. Bringing in a P.A./lighting/multimedia system that I hire definitely puts things in our control and I believe gives the fans more for their money. Opening the show in Woodstock is local band The Smashtones, featuring Jeff Koikou on lead guitar. Jeff and I were once in a weekend band with bassist Ron Watson called Allyson Flyte. This is AN EARLY SHOW with The Smashtones going onstage at 8:30 P.M. and Helix going on at 9:45 P.M.
Our last show of May will by on the 26th at This Ain't Hollywood in Hamilton. I've never played this club before but I've heard a lot of good things about it. It's a small intimate venue with good sound. Quite a few fans have been emailing me about getting tickets for this one. Seeing as it's limited seating, it would be a good idea to get them earlier than later.
