Hip-hop icon Dr. Dre revealed Thursday that he will produce an upcoming horror film entitled "Thaw." The rapper - producer did not indicate what, if any effect the film will have on his plans for his upcoming solo album, "Detox." "That" was written by Vik Weet, and will be co-produced by Dre's Crucial Films partner Daniel Chider, who sources say originated the idea for the film. The storyline for the film involves "an ancient evil that emerges from the rapidly melting ice in the Yukon," according to a report in Variety.
While Dre's influence on hip-hop as both a performer and producer is well documented, "Thaw" will not be his first experience producing a film, as he executive produced the 2001 film "The Wash," starring himself, Dr. Dre and featuring cameos from other hip-hop giants like Eminem and Ludacris. Dre has also acted in a hadful of other films such as "Training Day" and the "Friday" series.
