Following Davy Jones's death last week, sales of albums from the Monkees soared, landing the band on the Billboard 200 albums chart for the first time since 2003. The band's compilation "The Best of the Monkees" rose all the way to No. 20 on the chart, as sales rose more than 7,800 percent to 17,000. Combined, the Monkees albums sold 29,000 copies in the week ended Sunday, an increase of 1,265 percent over the previous week, when a total of 2,000 Monkees records were purchased. There was also a huge jump in sales of Monkees' digital songs, led by "Daydream Believer," which was downloaded 39,000 times to come in at No. 49 on the Digital Songs chart.
