Rapper 50 Cent has teamed up with the World Food Program to witness the dire effects of hunger in Somalia and Kenya. The hip-hop mogul flew to Dolo, Somalia this week to witness the plight firsthand, has agreed to provide a billion meals for Africa's hungry, and will donate 10 cents from every sale of a new energy drink called Street King that he is promoting.
"I'm in Somalia this week to show the world the devastation that is taking place," the rapper noted on the official Facebook page for Street King. "Children going hungry everyday, even dying everyday from hunger. I am going to keep sending thru images from out here. I need you to take these photos and re-post to your friends. The world needs to see what is going on."
The United Nations declared an end to Somalia's six-month famine last week, but cautioned that thousands of people will still need food aid to survive. Authorities estimate that between 50,000 and 100,000 people have died from starvation since the famine began last summer.
