36 years after being shelved over a dispute between producer Frank Zappa and DiscReet Records executive Herb Cohen, the lost Captain Beefheart record "Bat Chain Puller" will finally hit stores in January. Alternate versions of some of the album's first cut appeared on Beefheart's 1978 set "Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)," but the release will mark the first time the often-bootlegged rarity will be released in its originally intended form.
Captain Beefheart, whose real name was Don Van Vliet, passed away last December, and the lost resord will be released on his birthday, January 15th.
